WHO WE ARE
The Broadway Area Community Development Corporation (BACDC) was created in 1994 following a year-long planning and urban design process, in which over 100 residents, business owners, and stakeholders came together to initiate change in the Midtown community in Gary, Indiana. BACDC is a non-profit community-based housing development organization. BACDC was designed to create new partnerships with the city, business community, service providers, and other interested parties.
The BACDC has made significant advances towards improving the overall quality of life for local residents through the new construction of single-family homes and multi-family housing and social service program like the Urban Women in Construction (UWIC)Training Program and the Neighborhood Workforce Development (NWD) Training Certificate Program.
BACDC’s understand that affordable housing and social service programs is necessary to our communities. Affordable housing uplifts residents, encourages social connections, reduces overcrowding, increase adjacent property values, attracts businesses and jobs, lowers crime rates and increase academic performance and unemployment.
With respect to our community and neighborhoods, the mission of the BACDC is to stimulate, improve, promote, and sponsor affordable housing, commercial development, human development, and financial development in Gary with special emphasis in the Broadway Corridor aka Midtown Gary.
